My UPS battery failed, is swollen, or cracked:

A batteries life expectancy is reduced by 50% for every 15 degrees above 77F. Verify that the charging current is working properly. If the batteries are old, the string of batteries should be replaced. If a battery is new, you may be able to replace the single battery as it may have a defect or have been damaged during shipping.

How often should I service a UPS?

At least once a month conduct a visual inspection of the UPS making sure the environment is clean and dust/debris free. Inspect the rooms ventilation, ambient temperature, and inspect batteries for leaks, cracks, or bloating. If battery monitoring is available, review the results.

How often should a UPS be professionally serviced?

Once a year take the system offline and inspect it’s components for signs of corrosion and heat damage. Measure and check the torque of all connections. Clean and vacuum UPS enclosures. Load test the battery bank, which may require disconnecting the UPS from its power source and allowing the batteries to supply power to the load. Conduct thermal scans on electrical connections to identify hot spots.
